This session will summarize the Madoff and the FTX frauds and Ponzi schemes, the efforts to collect money owed to Madoff and FTX customers, and the similarities and differences between the two frauds. Panelists will also discuss why Ponzi schemes succeed, why they keep occurring, and whether another large-scale fraud similar to Madoff of FTX could happen again.
In this session, participants will learn: The elements of securities fraud, and the ability for investors to recover losses and damages from different types of securities fraud.
